The Barclay School
The mission of the Barclay School is to provide a rich, diverse curriculum in a safe, nurturing environment.  Learning is hands-on, experiential and organic. The holistic approach honors the whole child; strengths are honed while weaknesses are remediated. Assessment is authentic and child centered.


 

 

 

 

Mary Jeffcoat

  Mary is an actor, director, and teacher.  She is not only well-known, but renowned in children's theater in the southeast.  Many of her former students have become professionals in the theater, television and film industry.  This is no accident.  She brings out the best in every student she works with, turning the most mundane tasks into opportunities for students to express themselves.  Mary graciously volunteers weekly at The Barclay school.  


 

 

Dr. Paul Higgins

 

 

 Dr. Higgins earned his PhD at Northwestern University and has been an integral part of the University of South Carolina Sociology Department for 34 years.  While Dr. G. was working on her PhD, Dr. Higgins served as her mentor and she continues to sing his praises to this day.  Dr. Higgins volunteers his time at The Barclay School teaching us Sign Language.  We are incredibly grateful for his time and the knowledge he shares with us each week!
